1Open wounds have a priority, typically bleeding first, cleaning after, then bandaging appropriately.

2If the wound is bleeding cover it with a clean towel (sometimes this is a luxury, so grab something close), then place it on the wound.

3If the wound is bleeding apply direct pressure waiting between 2-5 minutes (for most clots).

4Once bleeding is stopped, clean the surrounding area (never directly).

5Cleaning disinfects the area, limiting infection.

6Then cover with bandage or for smaller cuts a band aid will do.

7Wounds heal faster if you allow it not to be touched incessantly. As well as when bandages are changed regularly.

Tips and Warnings
Get medical attention if needed - this is the first step in how to heal an open wound faster.
Avoid infection - make sure to wash the open wound well with soap and water and use an anti-septic. If an infection occurs, this will delay the healing of the wound and make it heal slower.
For severe wounds it is always advisable to consult a physician to see if it requires stitching and to avoid further harm to the wound.
