Chicken is the most common domestic animal. I guess chickens are underrated. With it's scrumptious meat and cottony feathers, it's hard to write anything bad about chickens. 1Warm oven to 450 degree F

2Clean thawed chicken, making sure to remove anything that may have been packaged and stuff inside, and season as you like.

3Place in large pan, which has been coated with either butter, lard, or foil

4Figure out cooking time - 20min per pound

5Place whole chicken in oven for 10min, then turn temperature down to 350 and cook for time per pound (i.e. a 5lb chicken should take about 1hr 40min)

6When time is over, take chicken out and cover with foil, leave to sit for 20min.

7Remove foil. If chicken is too hot to touch, leave to sit for a few minutes before carving. If you carve before its cooled down a bit, the chicken will fall apart rather than carve properly.
