How To / Instruction
Difficulty: Normal
-
Step
1Wash the strawberries with clean running water, drain it and place it in a dry towel to absorb excess water from the strawberries.
-
Step
2Get a piece of wax paper which is proportionate enough to cover the bottom of a cookie sheet. Place the covered sheet beside the stove.
-
Step
3Put the white chocolate inside one saucepan, and another one for the semisweet chocolate chips. Add 2-3 teaspoons of oil to each pan. Set the semisweet chocolate chip mixture aside for now.
-
Step
4Heat the white chocolate over the lowest setting, stirring the oil and candy together to make a smooth mixture. Pick the flattest side of the strawberry, and dip that side into the white chocolate mixture. After dipping the berries put it in a wax paper.
-
Step
5Separate the white chocolate mixture while strawberries are cooling down, and heat up the chocolate chips on the same stove burner and blend it until smooth.
-
Step
6Dip the strawberry on its sides, one at a time, leaving at least a 1/2 inch "v" of visible white chocolate in the middle of the flat side. This simulates a tuxedo jacket. Return the strawberry to the wax paper, white chocolate side up.
-
Step
7Take a toothpick, and carefully dot chocolate onto the white chocolate "v" to form a bow tie. Do this by making two small dots with a tiny one joining them in the middle. Add another tiny dot of chocolate beneath the tie to simulate a button if there is enough space to do so. Chill strawberries for a couple of hours and serve.
Tips and Warnings
Make the chocolate tuxedo strawberries the same day you plan to serve them.
You can use either milk or dark chocolate.
Place in the fridge between each layer white first whole strawberry then dark only one side of jacket then other side and finish using a cocktail stick to draw on bow tie and buttons.

great recipe, but kinda makes no sense to dress up your food. i mean really, once its in your mouth the look doesn't matter. and wont make any difference to your body. not likely your gonna feel better because oh look i ate a tuxedo'd strawberry

It's just a nice way to add to a special occasion. Like, if this were at a wedding or something. Decrative food is just another form of decoration for a whole event. It helps so you don't have to go out of your way to buy a bunch of fancy things. Making them is so much cheaper.
