Making a will is a hard thing to do. It requires a help of an experienced lawyer to help you do it. It should be very detailed enough to avoid misunderstanding. A will is simply having a say on where your assets go once you are gone. It is better to secure a will because if do you not have this, the courts will have to decide where your assets go. The worst would be not having these assets go to your family as what you have planned. Please see some steps and tips below on how to write a will.

A lot of people just don't want to deal with anything to do with death. But relatives fighting over your belongings is not a pretty picture. A will keeps your least favorite relatives from making off with the heirloom furniture.

I work for a law firm that handles Estate Planning. It's definitely better to hire an attorney.. because not everyone's situation is the same and there are different laws that apply to different people. A lawyer can help you sort out what you need.. and what you don't need.

I think it is entirely possible to write your own will as long as you are able to find a trustworthy source of information... hiring a lawyer is extremely expensive... I managed to file for divorce just fine on my own so I imagine i can find a trustworthy source to write my own will as well! Thanks for the info

This seems very overly simplified. A proper and updated will is so important. If your will is not correctly filled out, it can take the courts years to process a will after a death and family can be held accountable for costs in the mean time. A will dosen't have to be expensive, but a person should take the time to fill it out properly.

I think everyone should get a will, it would make death more exciting: like a lottery.

Give to a trusted family member? Hiring a layer is a much safer choice in my opinion.

I don't have much but I guess we all should make a will, even if it's clothing and accessories what we're going to be leaving behind haha

Rather plain and simple stuff in the article, though helpful. I also think everybody should write a will if they have dear persons they would love to share their close belongings with after they are gone. It doesn’t have to be much-even memorabilia that we hold dear to our hearts, and stuff like our personal journals, are a valuable thing to mention in your will. Specifically about journals-who would you like to give them to (if anybody), if they should read it or even if you want them to be burned (kind of sad, isn’t it?)

you actually need stuff to give away

Ensuring that your loved ones are looked after in the event of your death is very important. I think making a will is not an easy task but it gives you a sense of comfort to know that if you had to pass that your affairs are in order.

There are so many great free forms online! I just googled will forms for my state and did them myself. Essential for us since we have kids.
