An eyeliner is one cosmetic used to define the eyes. It is applied on upper and lower contours of the eye. To create a look that will define your mood and occasion, try these simple steps and tips. Eyeliner can make your eyes look incredibly dramatic and beautiful. Using liquid eyeliner is not recommended, it is hard to apply and even harder to remove (you can wake up with skunk eyes even after removing it the night before).

Step
1Choose quality eyeliner which will not cause damage to eye or skin around eye. A simple eyeliner pencil will work wonders.

Step
2Choose what color to apply. It should usually depend on the color of your dress, the color of your skin, the occasion and of course the weather. Blue eyes are enhanced by warm brown tones and gentle peach hues. Hazel and green eyes will benefit from brown, purple and violet eyeliner. Gray eyes look great with charcoal, black and violet liner. If you have brown eyes, the sky is the limit...brown works with any color.

3If using a pencil, make sure end is dulled slightly in order to cover area. Warm up the tip of the eyeliner by stroking it on your hand to make it easier to glide on.

Step
4Using fourth or ring finger, gently pull eye out in order to widen.
-
Step
5Gently apply liner along eyelash line from outside to inside of eye.

6For bottom line, do not pull eye out to widen, but gently run pencil or brush along eyelash line working from outside to inside corner. DO NOT line the bottom unless you are going for a super glamorous evening look. Eyeliner on the bottom of the eye can make the eyes look smaller.
