Ivies are one of the most appreciated ground cover. Ivies have roots that knit the soil and prevent erosion. It is also used to cover black walls and fences. Ivies can climbs and clings to walls using its aerial roots. It is fast spreading and has wonderful foliage. Ivies are also used as houseplants. It can be hanged or made into topiaries. There are different types of ivy that you can choose from. There are three common types of Ivies used as houseplants, the English Ivy, Algerian Ivy and Persian Ivy. In htaking care of your indoor ivy plants, hgere are some things to keep in mind.

    First, you should know where to positon your ivy. Ivies are not fond of direct sunlight. they need to be in a place where the sun shines to them indirectly. Ivies also like to be in cool places. For about 40-60 degrees at night. Ideally, ivies are placed on the sun porch having high humidity.

    Next, you should keep the surface soil moist always. Water your ivy plants in a way that you saturate the entire root system at the bottom. It is also important not to over water the plant. Over watering of ivies can cause them to rot.

    Space your plants evenly. It should be spaced in a way that it would allow air circulation. It is not advised to place your ivies near the door because they will get regular blast of air which is not good.

    During the winter, keep ivies indoors. Remove away withered leaves and dead branches. Also check for insects occasionally. A soapy bath once a month is recommended to keep ivy healthy.

    During spring time place you indoor ivies outside. Pick a shady place for your ivies. Ivies cannot tolerate prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
