Cooking a turkey perfectly for a special occasion can get a little stressful. Unless you have a back-up in store in your refrigerator, you better get things right. Everybody wants their turkey juicy and tender. To get the most flavorful turkey to serve, follow this simple guide. Here is how you can cook your turkey just right:

    If your turkey is frozen, thaw it in the refrigerator or by using the cold water technique.

    Remove the neck and giblets and rinse the cavity thoroughly.

    Add your spices to the turkey.

    Place your turkey in a roasting pan and brush it with butter or oil.

    Roast the turkey in the oven for 20 minutes per pound at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tips and Warnings

  • Check to see if the juices run clear when the turkey is pierced. Insert the thermometer in the thickest part. Check to see if it reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit for a stuffed turkey.

  • If the turkey is not stuffed, 170 degrees will be enough. Transfer to a warm plate when the turkey is done.

  • Tent the turkey with foil. Let it stand on the platter for 20-30 minutes. You are now ready to enjoy your turkey!
