What Is a Court Translator?

A court translator is a person brought in to assist with legal proceedings in a court of law. The translator is utilized when a witness cannot speak, or has limited fluency in, the English language. He is expected to provide an accurate translation of all testimony in order to ensure that jurors hear its precise meaning. A court translator is not the same as an interpreter.
