What is a Debit Card?

A debit card is a card issued by your bank that looks like a credit card, but is not a credit card. Most places that take credit cards for payment will also honor debit cards. When you use your debit card, the money is actually withdrawn from your checking account unlike a credit card where credit is actually given and you are billed later and charged interest. A card made from plastic that enables an individual to make purchases without having to use paper money. The money on a debit card can be taken directly from the individual's bank account.
