A publicist makes something publicly exposed. An issue that could give interest for people to know, learn or read that needs exposure is what a publicist do. For example, an issue on government budget, the latest fashion, a crime that has not been resolved are some of the many subjects that a publicist achieves to reveal for the readers' interests.
