This pottery originally made by Native American's, is made by draping horse hair on the pottery right after it is taken out of the kiln. In doing this the hair is burned, since the clay is so hot and it leaves the dark lines in the clay from the hair being burned. The lengend of how it was discovered how to make Horsehair pottery was that an Indian woman was removing pottery from the kiln and her long hair stuck to the pottery and burned off, and left the dark lines, and since then they started making this detail with horse hair.
