A tube type is a circular piece of cloth that is worn to cover the chest, depending on the size. A longer tube top can cover the entire belly and let the shoulders and arms exposed.
Because it has no sleeves or straps, tube tops are usually made from spandex material, firm cotton or any fabric that clings to the body. Some tube tops also have a band of elastic, or a hidden strip of rubbery plastic that runs along the inside and sticks to the skin. These features also help prevent the tube top from slipping out of place.
Tube top was introduced in 1970’s and became popular to young women. the British call the tube top a boob tube, referring in slang terms to the part of the body the top conceals.
