Plumping lip gloss is a cosmetic that is used to make your lips look fuller. It gives more volume and definition to your lips. It is used on thin lips to achieve those pouty lips like Angelina Jolie’s. It comes in transparent to opaque to tinted shades. Plumping lip gloss is a wonderful alternative for permanent lip plumping procedures such as collagen, Restylane, Juvederm, and/or fat injections that may pose serious injury to your lip tissues. It is also cheaper compared to lip plumping lipsticks.
Ingredients of plumping lip gloss are peppermint oil, caffeine extract, cinnamon extract, menthol, camphor, ginger extract, wintergreen, chamomile that helps to give a lip swelling effect. It also contains ingredients that deflect light creating fuller lips. Plumping lip gloss contains mild irritants that cause your lip to swell. The more irritant a lip gloss has; the more effective it is in plumping up your lips. Though, excessive irritants may cause severe allergic reactions that may damage your lip tissues. It is important to first swab the lip gloss in the back of your hand before you apply it. If it stings or causes severe reactions, try to use another plumping lip gloss.
So how does a plumping lip gloss works? Plumping lip gloss dilates blood vessels increasing blood flow to the lips causing it to have plump, freshly kissed lips. Because of the mild irritants, the lips tend to swell slightly. It also contains jojoba oil, olive oil, macadamia oil, honey and vitamin E that nourish the lips reducing lip lines. Plumping lip gloss also fills cracks and fine lines on the lips and enhances collagen.
Plumping lip gloss is applied after or over your lipstick over well moisturized lips. It usually comes with a wand applicator. This way you can paint your lips evenly. In some cases, if an applicator is absent, you can use your fingers to put your lip gloss on. Some plumping lip gloss comes with a roller ball on the top that allows you to directly apply the lip gloss. Use lip gloss plumper during the day to maintain its plumpness.
Aside from its plumping effects, plumping lip gloss also offer moisturizing protection from natural causes and other elements. Some plumping lip gloss contains sunscreen that protects your lips from chapping due to the sun’s radiation. Plumping lip gloss does not only have an aesthetic purpose but a medical purpose as well.

I had no idea that you could apply the lip plumper after you already applied the lip gloss on or after lipstick, but it makes sense since your lips have to be moist to look fuller. Great article!

I've used lip plumping gloss before, and while it does work and my your lips look nice, the gloss made my lips very tingly! I used one from Bath & Body Works, so maybe if I tried a different brand? Regardless, I still liked the effect!
