What Is a Magnetic Head?

Magnetic Head & Cassette

Magnetic head is a type of electromagnet that is utilized for converting electrical impulses into variations in the magnetism of a surface for storage and then retrieval in future. A fine example is magnetic head of tape recorder.

During the early 1990s, metal-in-gap heads were invented that used a small piece of metal that can accommodate bigger spaces. In early 2000, the manner of constructing the hard disk were improved, adding heaters to allow magnetic heads to operate with additional disk platters.

There are two designs for magnetic heads: the fixed head that magnetically adjusting two or more channels while the tape is running. The rotation head has magnetized data laid down at an angle along the length of the tape to maximize the full surface area.
